Melbourne Museum

LEGO® Star Wars: The Exhibition

LEGO® fans and Star Wars enthusiasts can experience the Force like never before, with iconic characters and scenes brought to life in stunning LEGO® brick detail. Step into a world of epic battles, gargantuan spaceships and stunning landscapes from a galaxy far, far away. Using over 8 million LEGO® bricks and taking more than 25,000+ hours to complete, LEGO® Star Wars: The Exhibition was built right here in Melbourne at Brickman headquarters.

Family Sleepovers

Sleep among the dinosaurs in this once in a lifetime prehistoric adventure and explore the museum after dark with a unique overnight experience at Melbourne Museum – home of the dinosaurs.

Immerse yourself in ELEPHANTS 3D up-close on the giant screen at IMAX with all the snacks. Enjoy exclusive access to LEGO® Star Wars: The Exhibition, cuddle up for campfire stories about creatures from the natural world in the Dynamic Earth exhibition, embark on Dinosaur Walk and Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs torchlight tours, before settling in for some sleep (if you dare) among the fossils. Wake to a delicious breakfast and an early morning Baby Triceratops meet and greet before heading off to spend the day exploring the museum. Folded Forest

In this ever-growing installation you’ll learn the art of origami and fold creatures inspired by the extraordinary animals of Earth’s diverse habitats.

The hands-on experience invites you to explore the interconnectedness of life on Earth. Create your animal and add your creation to one of three towering paper trees – each one a symbol of biodiversity and the invisible threads that connect us all to become part of the folded forest.

Suitable for all ages, with a range of designs available to suit different skill levels.

Seed Stories

20 September – 5 October | Daily | 11am, 1pm and 2pm | Cost: Member Child $16 / Concession Child $18 / Child $20

Ever wondered how something as small as a seed can help restore entire ecosystems? Discover the story hidden inside every seed these spring holidays. This family-friendly workshop is designed for budding nature lovers aged five and up.

Begin with a guided walk through the Museum’s Forest Gallery, where you’ll explore the plants, soil and creatures that help seeds thrive. Then, enter the workshop space to plant your own native seeds to take home.

IMAX Melbourne

Australia 3D

Narrated by Mark Coles Smith (Mystery Road: Origin, Apple Cider Vinegar), this documentary features stunning Australian landscapes which reveal the fascinating, ancient hidden stories that make this continent unique. Audiences will travel from the limestone cliffs of the Nullarbor to the steamy tropical wetlands of the Northern Territory via the stunning Kimberley coast and Australia’s expanse of red deserts in immersive IMAX 3D.

Young creatives can explore the engineering design process by building cubby houses and other imaginative structures. Solve challenges, send secret messages and invent wacky contraptions.

Secret World of Food

Kids can transform into food explorers – using their imagination and creativity to follow the fresh food we grow on a big and very important adventure. Through this free hands-on activity with VicHealth in the STEM Lab, kids will learn all about food’s journey from farm to worm farm.

Build ‘Em Up!

20 September – 5 October | 12pm and 2pm | Cost: Included with Scienceworks entry

Join our presenters in the amphitheatre for this 20-minute live science show all about engineering.

Meet our little robot friend called Buttercup and help us experiment and tinker to solve their engineering dilemmas. Learn about different materials, shapes and some fun physics while we Build 'Em Up together!

The Glow Show
